Wow, as I bring this month to a close I can’t believe we are already done with the 1st month of the Year!! WOW! Happy January Month to All. And,I hope this month put you in a position to accomplish all you set out to do this year. And, that you are ready to play when you step up to bat. My son has been grabbin’ his baseball mitt lately screaming, “Play Ball!! Mami, I wanna play baseball, let’s play!” It’s funny because, all I remember when he says that are memories of me striking out on the playground in elementary school when I attempted to play and couldn’t quite grasp the concept. And, I think to myself, “No, I am not ready to play”. But, then realize, it’s not going to matter whether I can play or not. He just wants to “Play Ball”! So, for me that means step up to the plate and try…just for him so we can “Play Ball”! It doesn't matter if I hit a home run or not... The point is that I am willing, ready, and prepared to play.
With that being said, we are in the process of building a new team for the new position I took. I just finished compiling a 85pg Training Manual b/c I am considered a SME (Subject Matter Expert) in the process we are creating for this New Investor Group in Home Preservation. The unique aspect about working in this Business Unit in Finance, is that we work on managing risk from the Investor’s Perspective. But, with the Consumer heavily in Mind. We work towards finding a median solution that will keep the assets from becoming distressed. That way, the investor is happy they are not losing money and the consumer is happy that they get to remain in their home, and the government (i.e. treasury) is happy we are working to create a fair opportunity for the borrower remain in the home.
Anyway, the other day we were sitting in a brainstorming Session on how to effectively train the 20 new people we’re bringing on….as I was offering my input, I had a flashback from the HBS Case Method Video that I have watched a million times….where Professor Rivikin said, “You’ve Got to be Prepared and Be ready to Play Every day” …and as I was sitting there going back and forth with a room full of Type A Personalities about this new process…It clicked. After watching all the videos about HBS & the case method and listening to a million podcast…it just clicked. What? Why the Case Method is so valuable. I mean I knew it. But, now, I KNOOOW it…..meaning what are you going to have to offer your classmates that is going to enhance a discussion which will help someone understand the different perspective or dynamic of an issue that will enhance their growth & perspective, which aids leadership development. I believe that goes back to what we do now in the board room. What will you offer? To the school? To the Company? To the community? Anyway, I just wanted to write a post on my “Ahhhh Haaa” Moment really quick Lol!
As Always…Be Luv!
