1.26.11…Finance Career Fork In The Road….MBA?

Yesterday, I was offered another position at work. And, I told my boss that I didn’t know if the job was right for me. On the one hand, there are all the plans I have as far as my MBA is concerned. But, on the other hand the opportunity for career progression has readily presented itself for me to challenge myself in a new manner. To further enhance my leadership skills, especially as far as mentoring and managing. It’s not a management position, but I would have direct reports to train, mentor, and equip them into quality producing team members, which puts me on the path to executive leadership. The thing is…provided I take this opportunity, I couldn’t start mentoring and managing them and then walk out on the a couple of months later. It would stall their leadership potential and leave an unfinished product. When I Lead people…I LEAD. My goal in working in that capacity is to make sure they are producing the best so that it enhances it personally & professionally. It takes at minimum a year to go through that process & build it to the point that if I were to leave then they would be in a position where they are now able to do the same thing I taught them to other people.

That’s real leadership, that how I was raised in the Air Force. It is effective TRUE LEADERSHIP! My values… my internal integrity would not allow me to abort the process in the middle of it. What does this mean for me? It means that BSchool might have to be put off for yet another yr. Honestly, I would have to learn to be okay with that…somewhere in it I will eventually have to accept that my path….the path that is before is the one destined for me to be on at the moment. I will get there….maybe not as early as I initially planned when I started this journey, but I will get there. It gives me more time to study for the GRE also. My son gets to stay put for a little while longer with his lil friends.  I can't be salty at that, lol.  I can’t help but quote the ever so popular, “The road is not given to the strongest or quickest man…but sooner or later the man that wins is the man that thinks he can”.

As Always…Be Luv♥!
