| Me Being in The Zone...which is where I am 75-80% of the time...now this is a great thing! |
(
Fyi: This post is from last night).
I am going to start this post by saying, “I CAN DO THIS”! And, I am going to write a post on the lawof attraction & belief in a moment, but first I am going to post this:)...I just finished my online into session with Manhattan GRE. I have to take a moment to mention how great this company is. I sat in on some of their GMAT Sessions last year, along with Veritas, Knewton, Kaplan, & Princeton Review. Let’s just say I have really done my homework on these companies. And, I remember the comfortable feeling I had with Manhattan, opposed to any of the other test prep companies because they recognized that many of us were doing this almost from scratch. But, they were able to offer some sense of comfort in not making me feel like a complete idiot while being in the online classroom setting. I ended up giving up on the GMAT after Bschools started accepting the GRE simply b/c my mind comprehends the GRE better. The GMAT is not necessarily for everyone. And, I am glad that schools are starting to recognize that people coming to BSchool do not all come from highly quant backgrounds (although I work in Financial Services). In school, I was an English Literature Major with a minor in Air Force Leadership & Religion. I took a total of 3 College Algebra Classes and that was it. So, it has been over 10 Years since I have solved for anything tat asks me what |x|>6 means??? Lol, so I am basically starting from scratch.
Anyway, the teachers were Ian & Terry. They were great! They were personal open and answered a ton of questions. The session offered about 2 Hours Online using Illuminate Live (wonderful compared to Princeton Review’s Online Module)! And, it is very user friendly if I can figure out how to set my Mic’ up lol. I haven’t had any luck with that yet. Ian said it takes about 3-4 Months, 10-15 Hrs a week, for a total of 150 Hours Overall to prepare for this test. I took my practice test on their website scoring in the 50% Range. So, I clearly have a lot of work to do. Honestly, for me 1000+ on a standardized test means I travel back to my cheerleading days & will turn a back flip! Lol…their test are excellent in the fact that it zeros in on what you are strongest and weakest in and gives you a detailed breakdown of where you need to focus your energy to get better results. I think their resources along with Grockit’s Practice Simulator will give me good preparation practice materials. I also have the Barrons Books & Note Cards, PR’s Quick GRE Guide, MathTutorDVD’s. Before, I signed off I thanked them for offering their services in this capacity b/c I was hoping & wishing they would last year when I was trying to find the right test prep company (law of attraction). I am relatively ready to begin on Building Block #1: Relearn the Rules. I realized last week while taking their practice test that I did not know the basic strategies to even begin to formulate the answer in order to solve the problem. #Frustrating...but it also put some things in perspective for me. I have my Iphone now so I can practice anytime.
And, I remembered back when I was studying for my Real Estate Exam, I missed it the first time by 3% b/c of a careless mistake. I thought I had answered all of the questions but didn’t. Thus, I failed the test. In order for me to get my license, I went back and sat through the initial class I took (twice) to make sure I wasn’t missing anything. Then studied for another 6 Mths to make sure I had covered every corner of that test. It worked. I passed & was granted my license (which needs to be renewed by June, lol) by The Great State of Tennessee! This same concept and overall strategy is what I will be doing for this test. It has to click…in me…you know internally, before I can apply myself. And, the day I took Manhattan’s Practice Test it did. I think that’s why I didn’t freak out after I saw my scores. I was actually at peace b/c I knew what would follow. At any rate, the beginning is learning the rules. Now, I need to track down a 7th or 8th Grade Math Book & life would be that much better.
I am going to end this post with one of my favs from Good Ol’ FrankieJ b/c when life throws you a curve ball….”I just pick myself up & get back in the race!! THAT” LIFE! And Michael Buble does an even better job with it see the link following: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q1UN-DYYehc That being said, as of 1/7/11, I am deactivating my face book profile for 2011. I need to spend my time wisely. I beleive I wasted an unbeleiavable amount of time on this site last year, even when I've been overly committed to my journey. Clearly, I need to tap into my God strength and come up with that much more dedication. I know it can’t be done connected to this thing. Plus, it’s a step in the right direction of reordering my world and spending time on the stuff that is important to me. I wish all of you the best of Luck in 2011. I hope to see you on the come up! I will still Blog. I am committed to that aspect of my life. So, lets Conqueror the next aspect of My MBA Journey, The GRE my class starts on the Jan 11th Happy New Year! Congrats to all my friends who just applied for R2 today! You GUYS ARE #FABULOUS!!!
So, as always….BE LUV!!!
