This post is my down in the dumps post…lol, I allow myself one after I have experienced just challenges after challenges after challenges! It is October & there are only three more months left in the year! I cannot believe how time flies and goes so fast. So, here’s an update on the MBA Journey. Just speaking from a Single Mother’s stand point, it has been absolutely difficult & downright hard to make this whole process work for me. I have been through 3 Prep courses that did not work out, 2 GRE b/c of bad technology, and this last one (I decided if I could get a Gmat course in the class I would take it). VERITAS had one scheduled for the last 2 wknds in September. I signed up for the course on September 3rd & got a 20% Discount with BTG!! AWESOME, RIGHT!!??? Wrong, I got an email the day before the course at like 4:30pm that they Canceled the classroom course I signed up for. Then, they cancelled the rest of the courses for the year in the Charlotte Area.
They offered the online version as a backup & private virtual tutoring at a discounted price. It6 was nice of them to try, but I spend 8-10 Hours a Day with Dual Monitors Analyzing Financials. The last thing I want to do is go home and try to study online. It is just not an effective use of my time. Thus, I have been refunded money 3x’s on this journey…..my attitude at this point is, this sucks! When, I do find a class, it either gets canceled or my Babysitters don’t show up, or cancel at the last minute. You know, at first, I was worried about how to survive, after I got into BSchool. Now, its…I am barely surviving on this journey to get there. Now, that I have told all the negatives, this post would not be complete without giving the Positive Pointers.
With that being said, I signed up for the Duke Fuqua MBA Info Session on the 14th here in Charlotte for Minorities. They are doing open interviews between now & 10/16/10. So, I am considering taking a day off to drive up there to get my interview out the way. So, they can have it before the application rounds start. On Nov. 3rd, the MBA Tour will be here, and I am going to schedule my Consortium Interviews with the Schools that will be here that I am applying to (i.e. Emory & UT Austin). So, that’s a very positive thing to get them done and out of the way. At this point, I am resolved to doing self study for the test I can best perform on. And, from my practice test, it looks like the GRE is the way to go. I have the books. I work practice problems every day. And, I study Note Cards every day. I am making progress. You know, I hear everyone say not to apply in R3, but if it takes me until R3 to get the Quality Application I need to apply then so be it. I am not going to stress about it anymore. I desire to apply R2, but if my scores are not where I want them to be and I need to take more time to study then I am going to do that. Regardless, I am going to a Top Bschool Somewhere. I am not going to give up b/c my current circumstances aren’t working…even if I have been in this process since January. This is just ME saying MY DETERMINATION & PERSERVERANACE WILL TAKE ME TO THE NEXT LEVEL. “I AM PREPARING. I WILL FOLLOW THE RULES. I WILL NOT (REPEAT) NOT QUIT!” I will see you on the other side fellow applicants.
